Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Public Works (PU), Dody Hanggodo, stated that the construction of People’s Schools represents a tangible manifestation of the government’s commitment to building superior human resources or HR. He explained that the development of People’s Schools is part of the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education while serving as a long-term investment in national human resource development. “The construction of People’s Schools is a tangible form of the government’s commitment to building superior human resources,” Dody said in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. Phase II of People’s Schools is being built permanently on land spanning 5–10 hectares prepared by local governments. Each complex is designed as an integrated education centre at the primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary levels, equipped with technology-based classrooms. The Ministry of PU continues to accelerate the construction of Phase II People’s Schools, implemented at 104 locations across Indonesia, as part of efforts to support equitable access to education and enhance the quality of human resources. The programme covers 32 provinces and 102 regencies/cities, with a target capacity of 112,320 students across 3,744 learning groups. People’s Schools are also equipped with skills laboratories, libraries, digital learning centres, student and teacher dormitories, as well as various supporting facilities such as healthy canteens, clinics, sports fields, extracurricular rooms, and green open spaces. The Ministry of PU is also continuing to address various technical challenges on the ground, from construction access and material mobilisation to the readiness of supporting infrastructure, to ensure all projects proceed according to targets and can soon be utilised by the community. The Ministry of PU, together with local governments, continues to strengthen synergy to ensure that the construction of Phase II People’s Schools can be completed on time and immediately utilised to support equitable access to education in Indonesia.
