Minister of Public Works Inspects People's Schools: Surabaya on Track, Nganjuk Lagging Behind

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo inspected the construction of People’s Schools in East Java on Sunday (12/4). He assessed that the progress of several priority projects in the region is already good, though some are poor.

One of them is the construction of the People’s School in Kedung Cowek, Bulak Subdistrict, Surabaya. Dody praised the construction progress, which has currently reached 45 percent.

“This is good, the progress is good. Last week and this week, I’ve been handling (inspecting) the People’s Schools. What I’ve seen from Waskita is top-notch. Waskita is top. So the People’s School is being worked on by Waskita and CAG, it’s good. The progress is 45 percent,” Dody said in Surabaya on Sunday (12/4).

The People’s School in Kedung Cowek, according to Dody, is being built over 6.2 hectares on land owned by the Surabaya City Government. He also praised the good progress, making him optimistic that it can be completed according to the target in June.

“This is good. The progress is good. What I’ve seen from Waskita is top-notch. So the People’s School is being worked on by Waskita and CAG, it’s good. The progress is 45 percent. InsyaAllah according to target. Hopefully before 20 June. Perfect,” he concluded.

In addition to Surabaya, Dody also mentioned that the construction of People’s Schools in other areas is proceeding according to plan, namely in Sampang Regency, Madura, and Jombang.

“The one in Sampang yesterday was also almost 40 percent, the model is the same. Sampang is indeed larger, 8.4 hectares. Yes, larger. But overall it’s already good, the one that’s a bit lagging is in Jombang but it’s still okay,” he said.

However, Dody stated that the progress of the People’s School construction in Nganjuk is lagging behind other areas, with a realization achievement of only 15 percent. This made him angry.

“Nganjuk is indeed very lagging. How much is this, 15 percent,” he concluded.
