Minister of Public Works Explains Raid by DKI Jakarta Prosecutors on Ministry Office
JAKARTA - Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has provided an explanation regarding the search conducted by investigators from the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office at the Ministry of Public Works office in South Jakarta on Thursday (9/4/2026). He stated that the search aimed to deepen an investigation. “Colleagues from the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office came and requested permission to conduct a deepening investigation by entering several rooms. So, I just gave them permission,” Dody said in Jakarta, as reported by Antara on Thursday. “They said they had an assignment letter and an order letter,” he added. However, Dody admitted he had not yet received further information about the case being investigated by the team. “They didn’t say what the issue was. They just wanted to conduct a deepening investigation, that’s all. I don’t know (any more),” he explained. Dody emphasised that his side had given permission and full leeway to the prosecutorial team to carry out the investigation, including accessing his workspace. “I gave permission, I even said for my room, please go ahead. And I have informed my head of security that if they (the officers) want to enter my room, please go ahead,” Dody said. Based on information gathered by Kompas.com, the search was conducted in three buildings of the ministry complex. One of them was the Cipta Karya building. The Head of the Legal Information Section of the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, Dapot Dariarma, confirmed the search. Dapot also confirmed that the search was related to allegations of non-criminal corruption. “Yes, that’s correct,” Dapot said when confirmed by Kompas.com on Thursday afternoon.
