Minister of Public Works Ensures Toll Road Infrastructure Ready for Remaining Lebaran 2026 Return Traffic
Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo inspected the Kalikangkung Toll Gate on the Batang-Semarang Toll Road on Saturday (28/3/2026) to ensure the readiness of toll road infrastructure in serving the remaining return flow of Eid al-Fitr 1447H, which is predicted to still leave around 25% of vehicles heading to Jabotabek.
Accompanied by the President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Rivan A. Purwantono, Dody emphasised that the quality of the toll roads is the top priority, especially amid high rainfall and a surge in vehicle volumes.
“We are ensuring that the toll roads are ready for use in terms of quality. Although repairs were completed since H-10, high rainfall and traffic volume still have the potential to cause damage such as potholes. I have instructed that repairs be carried out within a maximum of 1x24 hours if damage is found so as not to disrupt the return flow,” said Dody Hanggodo in Semarang on Saturday (28/3).
Based on Jasa Marga data up to Friday (27/3), 2.5 million vehicles or about 75% of the total projection of 3.39 million vehicles have returned to Jakarta. This means there are still around 840,000 vehicles (25%) predicted to travel at the end of this weekend, 28-29 March 2026.
Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono expressed optimism that this remaining return flow can be managed well. Jasa Marga continues to support traffic engineering such as one-way and contraflow based on police discretion and real-time monitoring from the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Center (JMTC).
“We are ensuring that all Jasa Marga Group sections are ready to serve the public. The peak flow on 24 March was successfully anticipated, and the increase in flow at the end of this weekend will be managed with optimal infrastructure and service fleet,” said Rivan.
To ease congestion on main routes, Jasa Marga urged road users to utilise alternative rest areas outside the toll roads. Traffic arrangement and capacity within the toll roads, from KM 444 Semarang-Solo to KM 72 Jakarta-Cikampek, continue to be evaluated situationally.
Rivan also encouraged returnees to use the Travoy application to monitor traffic conditions, toll fares, and e-money balance sufficiency independently. This is important to prevent long queues at toll gates due to insufficient balance.
“Ensure that the driver’s condition and vehicle are in prime condition. We also ask road users to wisely use time at rest areas so that they can take turns with other returnees,” concluded Rivan. (H-2)
