Minister of Public Works: Community-Based Infrastructure Programme to Reach 4,127 Locations in 2027
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Public Works (PU), Dody Hanggodo, has revealed that the community-based infrastructure (IBM) programme for 2027 will encompass 4,127 locations.
“We are giving special attention to community-based infrastructure. In our view, IBM is vital because its impact is the most immediate and directly utilised by the community, both from a physical and economic perspective,” Dody stated in a briefing in Jakarta on Sunday.
The development of IBM is one of the primary focuses of the Ministry of Public Works’ programme.
To support development programmes that directly address the needs of citizens, the Ministry of Public Works has allocated Rp1.65 trillion from the 2027 indicative budget, which will reach 4,127 locations across various regions.
From the Ministry of Public Works’ total 2027 indicative budget of Rp98.47 trillion, a portion has been allocated specifically for the IBM programme.
This includes 2,000 locations under the Accelerated Improvement of Irrigation Water Use Programme (P3TGAI) within the Water Resources sector, valued at Rp450 billion.
Meanwhile, 2,127 locations under the Human Settlements (Cipta Karya) unit will receive a budget allocation of Rp1.2 trillion.
“We are continuing to consolidate and refine our programmes to ensure that support for IBM remains steady and its benefits are sustainable,” said Dody.
The Ministry of Public Works considers the IBM programme to be a strategic investment that provides tangible benefits to the public.
The various programmes implemented not only improve the quality of basic infrastructure but also drive local economic growth.
The P3TGAI programme, for instance, plays a role in increasing agricultural productivity through the improvement of irrigation networks.
Meanwhile, the Community-Based Water Supply and Sanitation Programme (Pamsimas) assists in providing access to drinking water in villages.
Furthermore, Community-Based Sanitation (Sanimas) and Reduce-Reuse-Recycle Waste Processing Sites (TPS3R) support the improvement of environmental health through sanitation services and waste management.
Additionally, the Regional Socio-Economic Infrastructure Development Programme (PISEW) and Economic Area Development (PKE) are expected to strengthen regional economic activities.
The construction of suspension bridges is also deemed essential for opening access for communities in remote areas, including for students, farmers, and residents who have previously faced connectivity limitations.
“With the support of Commission V of the House of Representatives (DPR), the Ministry of Public Works is committed to ensuring that every rupiah of the State Budget (APBN) managed is handled effectively, efficiently, and accountably. We aim to produce development outputs and outcomes that meet quality standards, ensure orderly accountability, and provide real benefits for water security, regional connectivity, basic services, and the provision of public infrastructure required by all Indonesian people,” said Dody.
This step demonstrates the government’s effort to ensure that development does not only focus on large-scale projects but also reaches the basic needs of the community down to the village and remote area levels.
