Minister of Public Works Accelerates People's School Construction, Targets Completion Before 2026 New Academic Year
JAKARTA — The Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, targets the People’s School construction project to be completed before the 2026 new academic year. The government is pushing for accelerated development while maintaining quality standards and occupational safety. Dody stated that every project must meet the highest quality and be completed on time, as it directly relates to the future of the younger generation. “I want every People’s School construction to not only be completed on time but also meet the highest quality standards and prioritise occupational safety. This concerns the future of the nation’s generation,” said Dody in a statement received on Monday (20/4/2026). PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero), as the implementing contractor, is accelerating work at various project sites. Acceleration is achieved through strengthened technical supervision, project management optimisation, and discipline in occupational safety standards. The company’s Corporate Secretary, Dian Sovana, stated that they are conducting comprehensive evaluations to keep progress in line with the contract. Dian added that project dynamics are part of the construction process, but the company remains focused on solutions and acceleration. Dian noted that the project work involves hundreds of workers at each site with a rotating day and night shift system. “They work without regard to time, in various conditions, with high spirit and commitment to completing this project. This is not just about physical construction but also about dedication, unity, and responsibility to society,” said Dian. Dian further stated that accelerating the People’s School construction is also part of supporting the government’s agenda to expand access to education. In terms of design, the People’s School adopts an integrated dormitory concept with complete educational facilities, ranging from primary to high school levels, teacher apartments, student dormitories, to sports facilities. This model is prepared to create an integrated learning environment. Brantas Abipraya stated that they will continue to strengthen coordination with stakeholders to ensure the project runs transparently and accountably. “The People’s School project is not just physical construction but also a long-term investment in producing Indonesia’s superior generation. We are committed to speeding up the project completion, of course, prioritising the highest quality, and still emphasising occupational safety aspects,” said Dian.
