Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo is pushing for the accelerated completion of the Integrated People’s School (SRT) 1 in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau. The directive was issued during an inspection of the school’s construction progress on Tuesday (4/8).

During the visit, he requested that all unfinished work be completed promptly so that teaching and learning activities can proceed safely and comfortably. In addition to meeting the time target, workmanship quality must be maintained, particularly during the final or finishing stages.

"What is not yet finished must be completed immediately, especially neatness in the finishing stage, so that all teaching and learning activities can run well," he said in a written statement on Wednesday (5/8).

Dody stated that the construction of people’s schools is evidence of the government’s commitment to providing access to quality education through adequate infrastructure. According to him, the development does not stop at the completion of the school building but also includes all supporting infrastructure for educational activities.

SRT 1 Kuantan Singingi is built on a 7.5-hectare plot of land with a total building area of 13,081.84 square metres. The school complex consists of 25 integrated building masses.

The project is the responsibility of the Riau Strategic Infrastructure Implementation Task Force, with the implementing contractor being PT Duta Rama-PT Gala Karya (KSO). The construction contract value is recorded at Rp226.98 billion, sourced from the 2025-2026 State Budget.

Based on data as of 3 August 2026, overall construction progress has reached 92.59 per cent. The Ministry of Public Works is targeting the completion of all work by 8 August 2026.

A number of main facilities within the school complex have entered the completion phase. These facilities include buildings for senior high school, junior high school, and primary school, a multipurpose hall, kitchen, places of worship, dormitories, sports facilities, utility networks, and campus landscaping.

All these facilities are designed as a single integrated educational environment. This concept allows students from primary to senior high school levels to learn within one interconnected campus.

For information, the SRT is part of the government’s programme to expand public access to education through the provision of quality infrastructure. This programme aligns with the PU 608 Vision championed by the Ministry of Public Works in delivering safe, functional, and sustainable educational infrastructure.

The Ministry of Public Works stated that proper educational infrastructure is a crucial foundation for improving the quality of human resources. Furthermore, the programme is expected to support the target of zero per cent poverty through equitable access to education.
