Minister of Public Housing Drives Collaboration to Accelerate People's Housing Development
Jakarta – Indonesia’s Minister of Public Housing and Spatial Planning Maruarar Sirait has urged the strengthening of collaboration between government, banking institutions, developers, and the private sector to accelerate the development of housing for the public.
“The housing ecosystem is currently healthy because there is no monopoly. Developers have choices regarding banks, banks have choices regarding developers, and consumers also have choices between developers and banks,” said Sirait, according to a statement made in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He made these remarks during a housing ecosystem networking event held on Tuesday, 10 March. The event was attended by officials from the Ministry of Public Housing and Spatial Planning, the People’s Housing Savings Board (BP Tapera), banking representatives, developer associations, and private sector partners involved in national housing development.
Attendees included BP Tapera Commissioner Heru Pudyo Nugroho, banking leaders, heads of developer associations, and various housing sector business professionals.
Sirait expressed appreciation to all parties that have supported people’s housing development, including government, banking, developer, and private sector representatives.
“On behalf of the nation, we extend our gratitude to all parties that have supported the development of people’s housing. Support from the private sector demonstrates that confidence in the state’s efforts to provide housing for citizens is growing stronger,” he said.
He also mentioned that the government is preparing a Housing Bill to strengthen policy and accelerate the resolution of various issues in the housing sector.
