Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister for State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Rini Widyantini supports the organisational transformation at the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) as part of strengthening institutions and the governance of search and rescue (SAR) services. “Strengthening Basarnas’ institutions is part of the national priority in enhancing the state’s resilience against disasters and accidents. The reorganisation is aimed at ensuring the effectiveness of national search and rescue operations,” said Rini during a meeting with Basarnas Chief Air Marshal TNI Mohammad Syafii at the Ministry of PANRB office in Jakarta on Monday. She explained that the reorganisation of Basarnas is directed towards improving effectiveness, professionalism, and the speed of SAR operations, while strengthening is achieved through structural reorganisation, fulfilment and enhancement of human resource competencies, and the implementation of digitalisation systems. Rini stated that strengthening the national SAR system aligns with the eighth Astacita of the President, while also forming part of building national resilience against disaster risks. Basarnas is a Non-Ministerial Government Agency directly responsible to the President. This position underscores the SAR function as a strategic national function. In addition, Basarnas has proposed organisational reorganisation in several regional technical implementing units (UPT) to support performance in ensuring reliable, effective, safe, and internationally standardised SAR operations throughout Indonesia. “We hope that after this discussion, the technical implementing units we have discussed together can strengthen Basarnas’ performance going forward,” said Rini. “The reform efforts we are undertaking are directed towards supporting the President’s Asta Cita. Organisational reorganisation and strengthening of functions at Basarnas are an important part of ensuring that SAR policies run effectively,” she added. Through this meeting, the Ministry of PANRB and Basarnas are committed to continuing to strengthen coordination on organisational and work arrangements to support the effectiveness of national search and rescue operations.
