Information is a strategic asset for an organisation that can influence public decisions. This goes hand in hand with information transparency, which cannot be separated from the quality of public communication. The more open an organisation is, the greater its responsibility to build honest, clear, and credible communication. Therefore, strategic communication is needed so that the information received by the public is unbiased, accurate, understandable, and trustworthy. “As ASN, part of the government, we have an obligation to provide accurate information. Because one of our duties is to serve the public, we must build public trust. For this reason, the information conveyed must be open and measurable. Measurability is regulated in legislation,” said Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) Rini Widyantini in a statement on Thursday (25/6/2026). This was stated at the PPID Sharing 2026 event at the Ministry of PANRB Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (24/6). Information transparency does not stop at merely fulfilling legal obligations. It is an important instrument for building public trust while strengthening governance. In her presentation, she explained that there are four main steps that need to be strengthened in information transparency, namely improving the quality of information, utilising information technology, increasing the capacity of state apparatus, and building good relations with the media and various stakeholders. Every ASN has a strategic role in ensuring quality public information transparency while building public trust in the government. ASN must be providers of accurate information, ensuring that the information conveyed is correct, complete, up-to-date, and accountable. Furthermore, ASN must also be responsible public communicators. ASN must not provide information carelessly, must not lie, and the delivery of policies must be clear, ethical, and easily understood by the public. ASN also acts as drivers of public participation. “If we are open, we can also build public participation. We have lapor.go.id, where all government agencies can see what the public is complaining about,” she added. In the context of public information transparency, PPID and PPID superiors have an important role as managers of public information transparency to ensure that public information is available, easily accessible, managed quickly and accurately, and delivered in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations. It was further conveyed that every ASN is a representation of the government in the eyes of the public. “The duty of ASN is to serve the public, so services to the public must be prioritised. Therefore, if we provide information to the public, it must be truly accurate so that it can further build public trust in us as service providers,” she said. She also emphasised that information transparency must be carried out continuously so that it is not only available but truly provides benefits and builds public trust. For information, the 2026 PPID Sharing event of the Ministry of PAN-RB featured communication practitioners Becky Tumewu and Wahyu Wiwoho, who shared perspectives and communication strategies in the era of information transparency. Becky Tumewu emphasised the importance of clear communication based on truth, empathy, and fast response. Meanwhile, Wahyu Wiwoho stated that transparency and openness are key to building public trust in the information age.
