Minister of National Development Planning says East Java capable of maintaining economic and food stability
Surabaya (ANTARA) - Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy stated that East Java is capable of maintaining economic stability and food security amid global pressures, particularly during this year’s Ramadan to Eid al-Fitr period.
“With the current economic pressures, East Java Province has already been able to address food issues. We have passed the most difficult conditions during Ramadan and Eid; East Java has managed to maintain food security,” Rachmat said after attending the Development Planning Deliberation (Musrenbang) for the 2027 Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) in Surabaya on Tuesday.
According to him, this achievement demonstrates the region’s ability to manage economic pressures, including maintaining the distribution of basic commodities and energy stability amid global turbulence.
“In other countries, there are disruptions in the fuel sector, but East Java Province has already resolved this. This shows the region’s resilience in facing global pressures,” he said.
He also highlighted extreme poverty in East Java, which is said to be approaching zero percent, so future focus will be directed towards reducing general poverty rates.
This achievement, Rachmat continued, serves as an important indicator that economic stability and food security in the region can be maintained despite facing non-trivial global challenges.
He emphasised that the central government ensures the direction of development planning runs down to the regions and impacts community welfare.
