Minister of National Development Planning Emphasises Development Based on Regional Potential

Bengkulu (ANTARA) - The Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, emphasised that national development must be equitable and based on the flagship potential of each region.

“I am here to ensure there is alignment of vision and perspective, an alignment that will make Indonesia independent, just, and prosperous,” said the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, in Bengkulu on Friday.

According to him, Bengkulu has potential commodities such as coffee that can become the region’s flagship. Not only coffee, but also other natural resources like marine and mineral resources that can be developed through downstream processing.

He explained that strengthening comparative advantages into competitive advantages is very important so that Indonesia can compete at the global level.

Minister Rachmat Pambudy also emphasised the role of universities as centres for producing superior human resources that will support regional development.

He is optimistic that with collaboration between the central government, regions, and universities, they can develop and contribute to Indonesia’s progress on the world stage.

In addition, he stressed that development should not only be centred in the central government but must reach all regions of Indonesia from Aceh to Papua.
