National development is not only supported by technology and innovation but also by quality human resources.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy stated that education serves as the foundation of long-term development.

“National development is not only supported by technology and innovation, but also by quality human resources. Education is one of the foundations of long-term development,” he said during a discussion with the Rector and academic community of Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) on the Synchronisation of National Development Planning and Higher Education Transformation: The Role of UNESA in Preparing Superior Human Resources at the UNESA campus, according to an official statement from Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to him, the effort to educate humans is a long-term building project that lasts for hundreds of years. Therefore, the responsibility of teacher education is considered very important in welcoming Golden Indonesia 2045.

For the Head of Bappenas, strengthening the quality of educators is key in human resource development. In facing current development challenges, teachers are seen as a determining factor for success, thus requiring joint efforts to strengthen teacher education sustainably.

“UNESA is the compass for the birth of superior human resources, which plays a role in producing quality teachers while driving innovation for the nation,” said the Minister of PPN.

In line with the direction of the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025-2029, higher education is directed towards improving equitable access and quality, strengthening mastery of science and technology, and enhancing the competitiveness of graduates.

In the future, UNESA is expected not only to act as a knowledge producer but also as a knowledge bridge between policy and educational practice, as well as a knowledge implementer through evidence-based community service.
