Minister of Migrant Worker Protection reflects on Idul Adha's spirit of sincerity to strengthen migrant protection
Minister of Migrant Worker Protection (P2MI) Mukhtarudin has reflected on the significance of Eid al-Adha 1447H, urging ministry officials to draw profound lessons from the essence of the sacrifice ritual, a sacred occasion that teaches sincerity and steadfast faith. In a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday, Mukhtarudin stated that the essence of the sacrifice ritual lies in sincerity, self-sacrifice, and social concern, particularly in strengthening the protection of migrant workers. ‘For us at the P2MI Ministry, this spirit of sacrifice must be manifested into concrete commitment: providing total, sincere, and selfless protection to our ’National Ambassadors’,’ Mukhtarudin said. Alongside wishing Eid al-Adha 1447H to all Muslims, particularly Indonesian migrant workers (PMIs) worldwide, Mukhtarudin expressed his highest appreciation and dedication to those celebrating the holiday far from home. ‘I fully understand the experience of celebrating victory in a foreign land, away from family’s embrace. But believe me, the sacrifices and sincerity of you, mothers, fathers, and colleagues striving for the welfare of families back home constitute a noble economic jihad,’ he said. ‘And to tighten legal and welfare protections for migrant workers and their families from origin to destination,’ he added. Mukhtarudin expressed hope that the social solidarity values from the sacrifice ritual would strengthen national brotherhood among Indonesians both domestically and abroad. ‘May the spirit of sacrifice bring blessings, peace, and safety to us all, and always keep Indonesian migrant workers under His protection,’ he concluded.
