Minister of Manpower: Vocational Training a Key Factor in Boosting Workforce Absorption
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli considers vocational training to be one of the key factors in increasing workforce absorption, particularly through strengthening the link and match, or alignment between graduates’ competencies and industry requirements.
“Among the challenges we face today is the ongoing gap between job seekers’ competencies and industry needs. This must be bridged through quality vocational training,” the Minister stated in Jakarta on Thursday.
He emphasised that training programmes need to be continuously strengthened to align with industry requirements, ensuring that graduates are job-ready.
Furthermore, Yassierli urged instructors to improve the quality of teaching and ensure that participants acquire the skills needed in the workforce.
He cited the employment absorption rate for vocational training graduates at the Serang Vocational Training and Productivity Centre (BBPVP) in Banten, which reached 82% in 2025.
The Minister assessed that this achievement demonstrates that the training conducted has aligned with industry needs.
He hopes that this achievement can be maintained and improved, so that alumni from the Ministry of Manpower’s training centres are increasingly able to meet industry demands through strengthened link and match.
During his recent visit, Yassierli also directly inspected several training workshops at BBPVP Serang to ensure that the training processes match industry requirements.
In addition, he reviewed the implementation of training as well as walk-in interview activities that directly connect participants with businesses and industries as part of efforts to accelerate workforce absorption.
For information, BBPVP Serang is organising National Vocational Training Batch I in 7 fields with a total of 18 programmes designed according to industry needs, covering Welding Techniques, Electrical Techniques, Manufacturing, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Business and Management, Fashion Technology, and Agroindustry Processing Technology.
The programme composition includes 5 programmes in Welding Techniques, 5 in Electrical Techniques, 3 in Manufacturing, 2 in ICT, 2 in Business and Management, and one each in Fashion Technology and Agroindustry Processing Technology.
