Minister of Manpower to Meet with Ride-Hailing App Operators Tomorrow to Discuss Eid Al-Fitr Allowance for Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Coordinator of Labour Relations at the Directorate of Labour Relations and Wages, Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker), Lisadarti, stated that the Ministry is currently drafting a circular from the Minister of Manpower regarding the provision of Eid Al-Fitr allowance for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers. Lisa explained that the amount of the allowance is still awaiting the results of a joint decision between the Ministry of Manpower and the ride-hailing companies.
“This Eid Al-Fitr allowance must be agreed upon and approved by the ride-hailing companies. If the government were to set it directly, there would be resistance, and it would cause more problems because the ride-hailing companies, not the Ministry of Manpower, would be the ones paying,” said Lisa at the Iftar & Media Gathering of inDrive Indonesia 2026 at the Aroem Restaurant, Jakarta, Wednesday (February 25, 2026).
Lisa said that the Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, will summon all ride-hailing companies to discuss the amount of the Eid Al-Fitr allowance for online motorcycle taxi drivers on Thursday (February 26, 2026). Lisa hopes that the amount and the circular from the Minister regarding the Eid Al-Fitr allowance can be issued after the meeting.
Lisa said that the meeting tomorrow will also discuss the timing of the Eid Al-Fitr allowance. Based on last year’s Eid, the Eid Al-Fitr allowance for online motorcycle taxi drivers was given at the latest seven days before Eid Al-Fitr.
“In previous years, it was seven days before Eid, but there is a scheme for 14 days before Eid,” said Lisa.
Lisa said that the decision regarding the amount of the Eid Al-Fitr allowance, the recipients, and the timing of the Eid Al-Fitr allowance will be decided after the meeting. Lisa said that the Ministry of Manpower will listen to input from the ride-hailing companies regarding this.
“Some ride-hailing companies are not ready for 14 days, but some are also ready for 14 days. So, let’s just wait for the announcement,” said Lisa.
