Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, has emphasised the importance of monitoring and providing a complaints service regarding the provision of Eid al-Fitr bonuses for workers in the lead-up to Eid al-Fitr.

“It seems that this mechanism should be implemented every year. There will inevitably be reports, and that is the function of the inspectors to follow up on these reports,” said the Minister during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.

As in previous years, the Ministry of Manpower will establish a complaints task force for workers if the companies they work for violate the regulations regarding the provision of Eid bonuses this year.

“We will establish a task force (for complaints regarding Eid bonus violations), and we will also ask all city, regency, and provincial offices to have Eid bonus task forces,” said Yassierli.

“So, if there are companies that do not pay Eid bonuses, please report them to the task force, and then the inspectors will follow up on the complaints,” he added.

The Indonesian Ombudsman recently recorded at least 652 complaints from workers regarding maladministration in the distribution of Eid bonuses that have not been resolved by the government between 2023 and 2025.

Therefore, the Ombudsman has advised the Ministry of Manpower and local governments to enforce sanctions against companies that do not comply with the payment of religious holiday bonuses.

In addition to enforcing sanctions, the government needs to collaborate to develop anticipatory measures against potential non-compliance, especially in industrial areas.

Furthermore, the Ombudsman has asked the Ministry of Manpower and local governments to strengthen the capacity of Labour Inspectors and integrate the Eid bonus payment complaint posts.

In response to this, Minister Yassierli assured that efforts would be carried out in accordance with the existing Eid bonus regulations.

“Yes, the process continues. So, the regulations already exist. Then, we will have a mechanism to remind people again,” he said.

Yassierli also emphasised that the provision of Eid bonuses is an obligation that must be fulfilled by companies to their workers.

This is in accordance with Government Regulation Number 36 of 2021 and the Minister of Manpower Regulation (Permenaker) Number 6 of 2016, which regulate wage policies in Indonesia and religious holiday bonuses for workers in companies.
