Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, has emphasised that strong apparatus governance is the foundation for improving the quality of national labour services.

“The end result of various development issues often culminates in labour issues. Therefore, the Ministry of Manpower must be able to provide real solutions for the community,” said Minister Yassierli in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He added that the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is continuously strengthening governance and performance accountability to ensure its programmes deliver greater benefits to the public. Yassierli noted that the scope of the Ministry’s duties is vast, ranging from preparing competent workers and expanding employment opportunities to protecting workers and resolving industrial relations disputes.

“Therefore, strengthening governance and performance accountability is key to ensuring every programme runs optimally and provides a tangible impact on society,” he said.

To support these efforts, the Ministry is strengthening programmes focused on improving the quality of human resources in Indonesia in a more equitable and inclusive manner. This includes expanding vocational training to increase the job readiness of high school and vocational school graduates, as well as aligning labour competencies with industrial requirements.

Furthermore, the Minister stated that these efforts are accompanied by the optimisation of labour placement services and the expansion of job opportunities to ensure training graduates are absorbed more quickly by the labour market.

Additionally, the Ministry of Manpower continues to evaluate various regulations to support the creation of a more adaptive labour ecosystem. “Various provisions deemed to hinder service are being reviewed to become simpler, more effective, and capable of meeting the needs of both the public and the business world,” said Yassierli.

He added that the capacity of Civil Servants (ASN) is also a vital part of organisational strengthening. The Ministry is currently preparing learning modules based on job competency standards that can be followed progressively according to career stages. “This step is expected to strengthen professionalism while simultaneously improving the quality of public services,” the Minister said.

Organisational transformation is also being undertaken through the strengthening of risk-based internal supervision and the enhancement of investigative functions to ensure organisational governance remains transparent and accountable. At the same time, the Ministry is pushing for the development of an integrated data system to support the formulation of more targeted policies.

“Data serves as the foundation for viewing issues holistically, evaluating programmes, and formulating more precise policies,” said Yassierli.

Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Manpower, Cris Kuntadi, stated that strengthening government governance and performance accountability is the primary foundation for improving the quality of public services. “The various challenges we face must serve as lessons to improve organisational governance, increase programme implementation effectiveness, and ensure every policy provides benefits to the community,” said Cris.
