Minister of Law: Posbankum to be the 'role model' for law-enforcement collaboration

Pangkalpinang — Indonesian Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas said that legal aid posts (pos bantuan hukum, posbankum) at desa and kelurahan levels will become the first role model of law enforcement collaboration whose dispute resolution ultimately culminates in restorative justice. “Posbankum ini akan menjadi role model pertama penegakan hukum yang bisa diselesaikan melalui proses mediasi pada akhirnya bermuara keputusan restorative justice,” said Supratman Andi Agtas in Pangkalpinang on the evening of Wednesday, 20 May.

He noted that the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia, in making posbankum a role model of law enforcement, will work with the Ministry of Villages, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Supreme Court, and local governments across Indonesia.

Next, the Ministry of Law will cooperate with the Attorney General’s Office, the Police and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to synergise posbankum with village and kelurahan enforcement programs. For example, posbankum will be aligned with the Attorney General’s Office’ programme Jaga Desa, and the Police have in every desa and kelurahan a programme called Bhayangkara Pembina Keamanan dan Ketertiban Masyarakat (Bhabinkamtibmas), and also the TNI’s Bintara Pembina Desa (Babinsa).

“Kita akan memastikan posbankum ini disinergikan dengan semua elemen negara,” he said.

He stated that currently 83,980 posbankum at desa and kelurahan have been formed across Indonesia, as part of President Prabowo Subianto’s Astacita mission to strengthen political, legal and bureaucratic reform through equal access to justice for all Indonesians.

“In sha Allah, tomorrow I will meet with the Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas) to formulate a policy relating to legal aid services so that it can be consolidated for all ministries that refer posbankum which has been formed across every desa and kelurahan in Indonesia,” he said.
