Minister of Industry Muhammad Sarmuji is preparing a strategy to strengthen the industrial sector’s contribution to economic growth and job creation. One of the steps to be taken is to strengthen coordination with other ministries and agencies.

Sarmuji believes that industrial strengthening cannot be achieved by the Ministry of Industry alone. Cross-sector cooperation is required so that various issues faced by the industry can be resolved gradually.

“This is not an easy task; it is a challenge that we must face and resolve,” said Sarmuna after attending the ministerial handover ceremony in Jakarta on Friday, 2 October 2026.

Sarmuji Highlights the Importance of Cross-Ministerial Collaboration

Sarmuji stated that the Ministry of Industry requires a broad vision in strengthening the national industrial sector. According to him, industry holds a vital position in driving economic growth while simultaneously opening up more employment opportunities.

Therefore, coordination with relevant ministries and agencies will be a crucial part of his duties as Minister of Industry.

One of the highlighted areas of coordination is with the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming. This cooperation is necessary to encourage the influx of investment into the industrial sector to strengthen production capacity and create jobs.

In addition to investment, Sarmuji also mentioned the need for coordination with the Ministry of Finance. This pertains to efforts to seek flexibility and incentives that can support industrial players.

“In a broad sense, we cannot work alone. Collaboration is essential to making the industrial sector a driver of economic growth and job creation,” said Sarmuji.

Gas Supply Becomes a Priority

The energy sector is also identified as a critical aspect in strengthening the national industry. Sarmuji noted that coordination with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) needs to be strengthened.

According to him, an adequate gas supply is required to support industrial operational activities.

Energy requirements are a factor directly related to the sustainability of production activities. Therefore, coordination between the industrial and energy sectors is considered a vital part of the effort to strengthen the competitiveness of the national industry.
