Minister of Immigration Respects KPK Sting Operation Involving West Jakarta Immigration Official

“We respect the ongoing legal process; our direction is clear,” stated Minister Agus on Wednesday (3/6/2026).

Previously, the Deputy Chairman of the KPK, Fitroh Rohcahyanto, confirmed the sting operation. The arrests are suspected to be related to alleged corruption cases. “That is correct,” said Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto when asked for confirmation on Wednesday (3/6/202lar).

Head of West Jakarta Immigration Office Caught in Sting

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that the sting operation was carried out in West Jakarta, as well as parts of West Java and Bali. A total of dozens of individuals were detained, including the Head of the West Jakarta Immigration Office. “One of them is [the official],” said Budi.

“In terms of progress, dozens of people have been detained as part of this series of sting operations. Evidence seized includes vehicles, cars, motorcycles, as well as cash in the form of USD and SGD, and precious metals such as gold,” he added.

The sting operation is linked to alleged bribery regarding the administrative process for foreign nationals seeking to reside in Indonesia. However, the detailed construction of the case will be explained by the KPK during a subsequent press conference.

“This sting operation is related to the process of managing foreign nationals so they can reside in Indonesia. As we know, for a foreign national to stay in Indonesia, there are KITAP (Permanent Stay Permits) and KITAS (Limited Stay Permits). It is within the process of managing these [permits] that the incident occurred,” said Budi.
