Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait is targeting subsidised flats in the Meikarta area, Cikarang, West Java, for sales agreements with the public by the end of 2026.

“We have already carried out groundbreaking and land clearing; hopefully, we can conduct sales agreements with the people by the end of this year,” said Ara, the familiar name for Maruarar, when met on the sidelines of the PIKI Congress in Jakarta on Thursday.

On that occasion, Ara stated that Lippo had donated land in Meikarta to the government, which would then be developed by the Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara).

“So, the state obtains the land. The builder is Danantara,” said Ara.

It was previously reported that the government is accelerating the provision of decent housing through the construction of subsidised flats in the Meikarta area, Bekasi Regency, West Java, targeting the provision of up to 141,000 units of vertical housing to meet the housing needs of low-income communities in stages.

Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Muhammad Qodari emphasised that the development of vertical housing is an effective solution to overcome land limitations in the capital’s buffer areas.

The project location in Bekasi Regency has been confirmed to meet administrative and technical requirements so that construction can proceed without land constraints in the future.

He assessed that this collaboration is an important part of accelerating the realisation of the 3 Million Houses Programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.

The government hopes that synergy with the private sector can expand the reach of the community in accessing safe, healthy, and affordable housing.
