Minister of Housing and Settlements Increases BSPS Program Allocation in Southeast Sulawesi

The Minister of Housing and Settlements (PKP), Maruarar Sirait (Ara), has increased the allocation for the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) Program in Southeast Sulawesi. He stated that the BSPS allocation for Southeast Sulawesi in the 2026 Fiscal Year will be increased to 10,000 units, a significant rise compared to the 3,077 units allocated in 2025.

“With the increase in the BSPS quota in Southeast Sulawesi, the economy will be driven through labour-intensive methods and high multiplier effects, which will certainly be very beneficial for the people,” Ara said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Additionally, the quota for subsidized housing construction in Southeast Sulawesi has also been increased to 20,000 units to accelerate the fulfilment of community housing needs. The Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP) continues to strengthen its commitment to reducing the housing backlog and improving the quality of residential living in the regions.

One of these strategic steps is realised through the increased allocation of the BSPS Program, the construction of subsidised houses, and the implementation of the Housing People’s Business Credit (KUR Perumahan) in Southeast Sulawesi Province. According to Ara, increased government intervention in the housing sector is crucial, given that the housing backlog in Southeast Sulawesi still reaches approximately 119,000 units, while the current housing availability is only around 62,000 units.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Settlements at the Ministry of PKP, Fitrah Nur, explained various technical aspects of the programme’s implementation to ensure optimal benefits for the community. “For Kendari, there is approximately 6 per cent budget efficiency through the Open Shop Selection (PTT) programme, which will return value to the people,” said Fitrah Nur.

In addition to the BSPS and subsidised housing programmes, the Minister of PKP also explained the mechanism of the Housing KUR, which is designed to expand access to housing sector financing in an inclusive and pro-people manner. For Southeast Sulawesi Province, the Ministry of PKP targets the distribution of Housing KUR amounting to Rp500 billion by August 2026.
