Minister of Home Affairs Inspects House Renovation Programme in Bukit Duri
The Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, inspected the implementation of the House Renovation Programme in Bukit Duri Village, Tebet District, South Jakarta, on Saturday (5/9/2026). The inspection was conducted alongside the Minister of Housing and Residential Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait.
The Minister of Home Affairs stated that the house renovation programme is a manifestation of President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to improving the quality of community housing. Nationally, since 2025, the government has renovated 400,000 houses across Indonesia.
“President Prabowo has established a programme to renovate 400,000 houses throughout Indonesia. It is extraordinary; this has never happened before,” said the Minister of Home Affairs, as quoted on Saturday (5/9/202<0xA0>6).
He noted that Jakarta still possesses several areas with houses in need of repair. Consequently, he expressed his appreciation for the Minister of PKP’s attention to the implementation of the renovation programme in Jakarta.
“Previously, there were almost no house renovation programmes; there were very few. Now, Mr Maruarar Sirait is implementing a significant number of house renovation programmes,” he added.
The Minister of Home Affairs emphasised the importance of support from local governments (Pemda) to ensure the programme proceeds swiftly and reaches the correct targets. He also reminded officials that administrative issues should not become an obstacle for residents who meet the requirements. He noted that the simplification of requirements by the Ministry of PKP must be accompanied by support from local government ranks, particularly in the process of data collection and verification of beneficiaries.
“Minister of Housing Maruarar Sirait has introduced easier requirements. Previously, certificates and various other documents were necessary; now, they are not. A simple statement from the village head is sufficient,” he explained.
The Minister of Home Affairs requested that local governments ensure that residents who have been recorded and meet the requirements are processed immediately. He also invited the community to support the development process within their respective environments to ensure the smooth execution of the programme.
The Minister expressed hope that the house renovation programme would provide tangible benefits to the community while simultaneously improving the quality of residential environments. He described the significant impact that could be felt if housing improvements are carried out massively within a single area, particularly in Bukit Duri Village.
“Imagine this entire village, this entire area, with 800 houses all being repaired. Is that great? Is that top-notch?” he concluded, which was met with enthusiasm by the residents of Bukit Duri Village.
Following a dialogue with the community, the Minister of Home Affairs personally inspected the homes of residents receiving assistance. He also took the opportunity to converse with the beneficiaries of the renovation programme.
Also present at the event were the Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait, the Mayor of South Jakarta Syafrin Liputo, the Director General of Urban Housing of the Ministry of PKP Sri Haryanti, the Director of Local Government Affairs Synchronisation II of the Directorate General of Regional Development Suprayitno, and several other relevant officials.
