The Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, held a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) with the Minister of Housing and Residential Areas, Maruarar Sirait, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, several heads of state institutions, and regional heads from the Highland Papua Province at the Ministry of Home Affairs office. The meeting discussed the strengthening of public housing programmes, including the plan to build 2,200 houses in Highland Papua Province.

In accordance with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto, the development is planned to include 2,000 housing units for the community and 200 units for tribal chiefs. Several technical aspects of implementation are being finalised to ensure the programme can proceed accurately.

The discussions also involved the Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, the Head of the National Public Procurement Agency (LKPP) Sarah Sadiqa, and the Head of the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti.

Following the discussions on housing development in Highland Papua, Tito continued his agenda by holding a special meeting regarding the strengthening of the ‘gentengisasi’ (tiling) programme. This discussion is part of the support for President Prabowo’s ‘Indonesia ASRI’ directive, which stands for Aman (Safe), Sehat (Healthy), Resik (Clean), and Indah (Beautiful).

“We have just finished a meeting regarding the realisation of the tiling programme. I am aware that one of the President’s directives is for Indonesia to be ASRI: safe, healthy, clean, and beautiful,” Tito stated in a written statement on Tuesday (29/09/2026).

“One aspect of beauty is that houses should ideally use more than just corrugated iron,” Tito added.

According to Tito, the use of roof tiles is an effort to support a more comfortable residential environment while strengthening the Indonesia ASRI movement. In its implementation, he appreciated the steps taken by the Minister of Housing and Residential Areas, Maruarar Sirait, who has coordinated with the West Java Provincial Government, the Majalengka Regency Government, and the Purwakarta Regency Government.

These regions are known to have tile production centres that can support the programme’s implementation while creating opportunities to strengthen local business sectors.

“One of the tile centres is West Java. Minister Maruarar Sirait has already taken steps to realise the President’s directive regarding tiling, specifically in West Java,” Tito revealed.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Housing and Residential Areas, Maruarar Sirait, stated that the tiling programme is also related to efforts to improve the quality of the community’s residential environment. He believes that strengthening tile production centres must go hand-in-hand with improving product quality.

“I highly appreciate the local governments of West Java, Majalengka, and Purwakarta. We want to support MSMEs, but by ensuring that the quality is also excellent,” said Maruarar.

According to Maruarar, the development of this programme is expected to provide a multiplier effect for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), particularly in West Java, while also opening opportunities to strengthen the tile industry in other regions.
