Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto has underscored the importance of the active role of the younger generation in the era of national industrial transformation through science and technology-based innovation. In a statement in Jakarta on Sunday, the Minister stated that global changes, whether due to technological disruptions, crises, or economic dynamics, should be viewed as opportunities to give birth to new innovations. “Going forward, business, enterprises, and innovation in Indonesia cannot succeed without science and technology. Therefore, we must strengthen research and technology,” he said. Minister Brian highlighted that Indonesia currently faces structural challenges, one of which is the low proportion of highly educated workers in the industrial sector. Reflecting on this, the Minister stated that every challenge actually opens up space for the emergence of solutions and new players, especially for Indonesia which is building the foundations of its industry. According to him, only business actors and innovators who are able to integrate research and technology will survive and thrive amid global competition. “Students and alumni have a strategic position as a knowledgeable workforce that will become the backbone of the national economic transformation. Therefore, higher education experiences must be utilised optimally to build courage in creating solutions,” said Brian. Industries that are able to grow and compete globally, in his view, are those supported by strong research, mastery of technology, and the involvement of outstanding talents from campuses. Therefore, Minister Brian appreciated the national industries that have successfully developed research-based innovations and continue to adapt to market needs. “This kind of collaboration model is expected to be expanded to encourage the birth of more science and technology-based industries in Indonesia,” stated Brian Yuliarto.
