Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Reveals Three Key Elements to Face Global Disruption
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto has stressed that strengthening science and technology, cross-sectoral synergy, and international collaboration are essential elements in facing increasingly complex global disruptions. In a statement in Jakarta on Sunday, the Minister highlighted that the current era faces global dynamics full of uncertainty, directly impacting sectors such as trade, imports, energy, and supply chains. In this context, Indonesia is considered to have a fairly strong position, but it must still bolster national preparedness to respond to global changes quickly, measurably, and strategically. “We still must face this situation, and of course, technology and the development of science will be a very important foundation in our future development,” said Minister Brian Yuliarto. He emphasised that global challenges cannot be addressed merely with short-term responses. Indonesia needs to build long-term foundations through mastery of science, technological innovation, and structural transformation that can strengthen national resilience. This is in line with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto, who places great emphasis on strengthening national strategic independence, especially in vulnerable sectors, including energy. For the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, he continued, strengthening the science and technology ecosystem is an important part of efforts to address global challenges. “Universities, research institutions, government, and the industrial world need to continuously strengthen their connectivity so that research and innovation can make real contributions to policy formulation and the resolution of the nation’s strategic issues,” said Minister Brian Yuliarto. Therefore, the Minister hopes that relevant stakeholders in the field of national resilience can meet to strengthen collaboration and produce concrete follow-up actions.
