Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Appreciates Unhas's SPPG Unit for Integrating Research and Nutrition
Makassar (ANTARA) - The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek), Brian Yuliarto, has appreciated the presence of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) at Hasanuddin University (Unhas), which integrates research and nutrition policy. Speaking in Makassar on Tuesday, Brian Yuliarto stated that Unhas’s initiative in establishing the SPPG demonstrates a significant shift in the role of universities, from centres of knowledge production to actors in implementing public policy. According to him, the primary foundation of human resource development lies in the aspect of nutrition. This not only relates to health but also directly affects learning abilities and future productivity. In that context, he reminded that discussions about innovation and global competitiveness must not ignore the most fundamental matters. “We often talk about technology and global competition, but we forget that the foundation starts from what our children consume every day,” said Minister Brian. Furthermore, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology conveyed that with the support of research, expert personnel, and community service networks, universities hold an important position to ensure that programmes run optimally. The presence of SPPG, including that developed by Unhas, serves as a concrete example that can not only be replicated but also developed as a research base for refining future policies.
