Jakarta — Indonesia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf (commonly known as Gus Irfan), has assured the public that the implementation of the 2026 hajj pilgrimage remains on schedule despite escalating conflict in the Middle East.

Speaking to journalists at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 12 March 2026, Gus Irfan stated that there have been no changes to the hajj arrangements thus far.

“As of today, we remain on schedule with no changes. Alhamdulillah, hopefully this will continue smoothly until the departure,” he said.

The minister emphasised that the government’s primary focus and consideration regarding this year’s pilgrimage are the safety and security of prospective pilgrims. Preparations for the departure of hajj pilgrims are currently proceeding well.

However, Gus Irfan stressed that the government continues to monitor developments in the Middle East before dispatching prospective pilgrims.

“We will certainly assess the situation and developments there, and any decision will be based on discussions and input from colleagues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant parties,” he concluded.
