Minister of Hajj and Umrah Details Current Status of Indonesian Pilgrims Performing Wuquf at Arafah

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, also known as Gus Irfan, detailed the current conditions of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims performing Wuquf at Arafah on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.

In his speech, Gus Irfan stated that the departure phase for pilgrims has been completed and all services are now focused on the peak phase in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna).

“Currently, all services are concentrated on preparing Armuzna, including tents, pilgrim placement, catering, transportation, health, pilgrim protection, and staff deployment,” he said.

Gus Irfan said operational data from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) shows that 202,551 regular Indonesian Hajj pilgrims have been dispatched across 527 flight groups.

These hundreds of thousands of pilgrims are accompanied by 2,098 Hajj officers stationed at various locations.

He also stated that this year marks a significant milestone for the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. “This is the first time Indonesia’s Hajj has been conducted under the framework of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.

He also conveyed a spiritual message to Indonesian pilgrims. Gus Irfan said Arafah is a space for self-reflection, where pilgrims are trained to abandon rafats, fusuq, and jidal – broadly meaning refraining from sexual urges, committing sins, and quarrelling.
