Minister of Forestry Briefs President Prabowo on National Park Funding Task Force Plan

Minister of Forestry (Menhut) Raja Juli Antoni met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. Raja Juli reported on plans to establish a task force (satgas) for national park financing.

Raja Juli arrived at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Thursday 12 March 2026 at 13:31 Western Indonesian Time. He stated he had been summoned by Prabowo but did not yet know the agenda for the meeting.

“I was asked to meet with the President, but I don’t yet know what will be discussed,” Raja Juli told reporters.

However, Raja Juli had prepared reports on several matters, including plans to establish the National Park Financing Task Force.

“I’ve prepared some materials on forestry, on national parks, on our plan to create a task force for national park financing, and various other things,” he said.

Raja Juli revealed that Indonesia currently has 57 national parks, which have historically been funded with limited allocations from the state budget. He expressed a desire for Indonesia’s national parks to meet world-class standards, requiring funding sources beyond the state budget.

“We are creating a task force for national park financing. We have 57 national parks in Indonesia and to date their budgets have been quite limited. We hope to develop national parks that meet world-class standards, which will require funding beyond the state budget,” he said.
