Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that crude oil from Russia will soon enter Indonesia as part of efforts to maintain national energy supply resilience amid global geopolitical dynamics.

This step is also part of the realisation of the commitment to import 150 million barrels of oil from Russia, which will be carried out gradually until the end of 2026.

When met after attending an event of the IPB Alumni Association in Jakarta on Saturday, Bahlil emphasised that the government is currently prioritising the availability of all types of fuel oil (BBM) to meet the needs of the public and industry.

“For me, the most important thing is that all our stocks are available. And for (crude oil from) Russia, it will enter soon,” said Bahlil.

He stated that the government is focusing on ensuring the availability of various types of BBM, from diesel to petrol with various octane ratings, amid the still volatile global conditions.

According to him, in the current global geopolitical situation, countries must prioritise energy supply security before taking further steps regarding other energy policies.

“In conditions like this, the country must ensure the availability of all types of BBM. That is far more important,” he said.

In addition to crude oil, the government is also opening opportunities for importing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Russia. However, according to Bahlil, the plan is still in the discussion stage.

Nevertheless, he assured that the national LPG stock is currently still above the national minimum threshold.

“Up to now, all our LPG stocks are above the national minimum standard,” said Bahlil.
