Minister of Education Ensures TKA Participants Can Take Make-Up Tests
Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti has assured that participants in the Academic Ability Test (TKA) affected by power disruptions, such as those during trials in several regions, can take follow-up examinations. According to Mu’ti, this mechanism is prepared as an anticipatory measure for various technical challenges that arise during the TKA trial period, including power outages and internet network disruptions. “If the power goes out or there are other issues, a make-up session can be scheduled later. It’s not a retake, but a follow-up,” said Mu’ti when met at his home in Pondok Cabe, South Tangerang, on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
He explained that a similar policy applies to students who cannot take the exam for other reasons, such as illness or certain conditions. Minister Mu’ti emphasised that the current implementation of TKA is still in the trial phase. The government, he said, is gathering various field constraint data through dress rehearsals to perfect the system before full implementation.
In addition to preparing a make-up exam scheme, the ministry is also collaborating with several parties to minimise technical disruptions, such as working with the State Electricity Company (PLN) for power supply and Telkom for internet networks.
Even for schools that do not yet have adequate internet access, the government is providing additional support such as the use of satellite services. “We are documenting all these challenges and anticipating them so that in the future, TKA implementation can be more optimal,” said Mu’ti.
