Minister of Culture Strengthens Collaboration for Museum and Cultural Heritage Revitalisation

During a recent meeting, Fadli Zon expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Advisory Board for various priority programmes within the Ministry of Culture (Kemenbud). “The revitalisation of museums and cultural heritage is our priority to preserve ancestral heritage while transforming it into an economic resource and a source of national pride,” stated Fadli Zon in a statement on Thursday (4/6/2026).

He also emphasised the importance of improving the management quality of the National Museum of Indonesia to serve as a national benchmark. “We want the National Museum to be an example for other museums in Indonesia through improved facilities, collection arrangement, and the opening of high-quality new exhibitions,” he added.

The meeting also discussed the progress of revitalising several cultural heritage sites, such as Candi Jabung and Muarajambi, plans for the revitalisation of several palaces (keraton), and the development of exhibition spaces for important collections at the National Museum. Furthermore, discussions covered plans for creating visible storage, the restoration of the Gunung Padang site, preparations for the opening of the Sriwijaya Museum, and efforts to promote sustainable cultural tourism.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Advisory Board for Museums and Cultural Heritage, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, expressed concrete support for the priority programmes of Museums and Cultural Heritage. “I welcome and am ready to support the development of the National Museum as a form of respect for the nation’s history and cultural heritage,” said Hashim.

Through this meeting, the Ministry of Culture reaffirmed its commitment to shared involvement with various parties, particularly the Advisory Board, to strengthen the revitalisation and sustainable utilisation of Indonesia’s cultural heritage.
