Minister of Culture emphasises importance of cultural facilities in strengthening arts ecosystem

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasised the importance of cultural facilities, such as the Jambi Cultural Park, in strengthening the arts ecosystem during the opening of the cultural festival titled “Pusparagam Negeriku: From Jambi for Indonesia” at the Jambi Cultural Park. The event, which also marked the conclusion of his working visit, featured a variety of performances, ranging from a blend of performing arts like dance and fine arts to a rich array of traditional culinary delights.

“Many artists and cultural practitioners have been nurtured within this Cultural Park, as it serves as an affirmative platform—a place where the community, artists, cultural experts, and cultural activists can engage in cultural expression,” Minister Fadlant stated in a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.

The Minister of Culture encouraged Jambi’s local wisdom to develop into an economic engine and a pillar of the Cultural and Creative Industry (CCI).

Jambi Governor Al Haris stated that the festival in Jambi serves as an economic hub for the community and provides a space for expressing Indonesia’s diverse arts, history, and culture. “This festival is held almost every year. Additionally, there is the Batanghari festival, along with several other agendas that showcase our cultural diversity, including participation from MSMEs, historians, and everyone who has dedicated themselves to the arts,” said Governor Al Haris.

The event series also included the inauguration of a fine arts exhibition and an inspection of a local food bazaar organised by the local cultural community.

The opening ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Jambi Governor Al Haris, Chairman of the Indonesian Museum Association Putu Supadma Rudana, Mayor of Jambi Maulana, Regent of Muaro Jambi Bambang Bayu Suseno, President Director of TMII Ratna Paramita, and Operations Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko Indung Purwita Jati, as well as members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, cultural practitioners, and academics. The Minister of Culture was accompanied by the Director General of Cultural Protection and Tradition, Restu Gunawan, along with officials from the Ministry of Culture.
