Minister of Cooperatives Praises NTT's Obor Mas Credit Cooperative as KUR Distributor with Rp1.5 Trillion Assets
The Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) has commended the Obor Mas Credit Cooperative (KSP Kopdit) for its strong performance throughout 2025. The cooperative has recorded assets exceeding Rp1.5 trillion and remains trusted by the government as a key distributor of the People’s Business Credit (KUR).
Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono highlighted that the cooperative’s consistent service delivery and ongoing innovation have been key to its success, enabling business growth and sustained positive impacts for members and the community.
“On 12 July, coinciding with National Cooperatives Day, we will present a special award to the people of East Nusa Tenggara and the provincial government for bringing national prestige through this cooperative,” said Minister Ferry during the opening of the 42nd Annual General Meeting (RAT) of KSP Kopdit Obor Mas for the 2025 fiscal year on Saturday (30 May).
Attendees included Sikka Regent Juventus Prima Yoris Kago, Sikka Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Chairman Stefanus Sumandi, Special Staff for Cooperatives Literacy and Media Empowerment Widya Ishwara Naraya, LPDB (Cooperatives Revolving Fund Agency) Director Krisdiyanto, and East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Secretary Flouri Rita.
With its numerous accolades and recognition for positive performance, Minister Ferry urged KSP Kopdit Obor Mas to expand its business operations into the real sector. Previously, the national pride cooperative’s performance has largely relied on savings and loan services. Entering productive or real sectors is expected to generate greater multipliers for members and the community.
“I expect KSP Kopdit Obor Mas to enter the real sector, productive areas that support local SMEs and tourism,” he added.
Further positive impacts from optimising real sector operations include potential increases in revenue and profit-sharing (SHU) for members. Given its strong performance, Minister Ferry is confident the cooperative will grow further and deliver tangible benefits to the community on a broader scale.
Kemenkop assured that the government will continue supporting existing cooperatives, particularly KSP Kopdit Obor Mas, amid accelerating the operationalisation of Village and Urban Red and White Cooperatives (KDKMP). This presidential priority programme aims to strengthen cooperatives’ role in promoting community welfare in villages and urban areas.
“The President wants to realign our economic development based on the constitution, ensuring our economic system and practices comply with the 1945 Constitution, particularly Article 33,” he said.
The existence of KDKMP is expected to shift rural communities from being mere beneficiaries to primary drivers of development. Thus, cooperatives become an instrument for national economic equality.
“A major responsibility of the Ministry of Cooperatives is not only to manage KDKMP but also to nurture existing cooperatives, including KSP Kopdit Obor Mas and others,” Minister Ferry said.
Closing his speech, Minister Ferry urged the new 2026-2029 leadership to uphold integrity and professionalism during the RAT and inauguration. He also hoped for continued service improvements alongside additional funding support from LPDB Cooperatives.
“The trust given by members is a significant responsibility for board members and supervisors to maintain integrity, professionalism, and transparency,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sikka Regent Juventus Prima Yoris Kago stated that the regency has around 130 active cooperatives and has established 194 KDKMPs. These cooperatives drive the regional economy in the East. He believes existing cooperatives, especially KSP Kopdit Obor Mas, are crucial government partners in fostering economic independence.
“We should be proud that Sikka’s cooperatives are nationally recognised. KSP Kopdit Obor Mas, born from simple aspirations, has grown into a cooperative with over 150,000 members and assets exceeding Rp1.5 trillion,” Juventus said.
Juventus hopes Sikka Regency can become a national model for community-based cooperative economic development.
Acting Chairman Valerianus Samador stated that today’s RAT was attended by 32 branch representatives across NTT. The meeting served as an opportunity for the board to account for 2025 performance and formalise the new 2026-2029 leadership structure.
KSP Kopdit Obor Mas currently has 162,412 members spread across NTT. The cooperative is a key government partner for KUR distribution, with current assets reaching Rp1.52 trillion.
“Our focus for 2026 is strengthening member discipline through SME empowerment and financial literacy to create a secure, healthy, outstanding, and highly competitive cooperative,” said Valerianus Samador.
