Minister of Cooperatives Hopes Synergy with PERSIS Could Boost the Muslim Community's Economy
Minister of Cooperatives (Menkop) Ferry Juliantono hopes that synergy between the Ministry of Cooperatives and Persatuan Islam can strengthen the economy of the umat. He wants this synergy to reinforce the institutional framework of cooperatives. He said this while delivering remarks at the Persatuan Islam (PERSIS) Ramadhan Expo 2026 and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with PERSIS in Bandung on Friday, 6 March 2026. Those present included Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan, PERSIS Central Board Chairman Jeje Zaenudin, LPDB Director of Sharia Financing Ari Permana, and LPDB Director General and Legal Deva Rachmania. He signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PERSIS in relation to this synergy. He hopes the synergy will strengthen the Muslim community’s economy through the cooperative movement. ‘We hope the synergy between the Ministry of Cooperatives and Persatuan Islam can strengthen the Muslim community’s economy through the cooperative movement,’ Ferry said. ‘It will also encourage community business actors to uplift quality and production capacity so that local products can meet the needs at the Merah Putih Village/Urban Cooperatives’ retail outlets across Indonesia,’ he added. In addition, he wants this collaboration to increase human resource capacity. Business access can also be expanded. ‘The collaboration is also expected to strengthen the cooperative institutional framework, increase human resource capacity, and broaden access to business and financing so that the community economy continues to grow,’ he stated.
