Minister of Cooperatives and Minister of National Development Planning/Bappenas Discuss Development of Production Sector Cooperatives
The Minister of Cooperatives (Menkop), Ferry Juliantono, together with the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas), Rachmat Pambudi, held a working meeting to discuss the development of production sector cooperatives at the Saleh Afif Building of the Ministry of PPN/Bappenas in Central Jakarta.
In the discussions, Ferry explained that this forum serves as an important momentum to strengthen synergy and align steps in promoting the development of production sector cooperatives as part of the national development agenda.
“Bappenas supports the development of production sector cooperatives through a blueprint that will be regulated in a Presidential Regulation (Perpres), involving related ministries such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Industry, and KKP. This Perpres aims to strengthen the role of production sector cooperatives in the Indonesian economy,” said Ferry in a written statement on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
According to him, the optimisation of production sector cooperatives is important to create a multiplier effect for society and the economy, through increased productivity, efficient management, and broader market access. In addition, cooperatives also increase added value through downstream processing and industrialisation of products, as well as logistical efficiency.
Ferry stated that the government positions cooperatives within the RPJMN 2025-2029 to support food and energy self-sufficiency, industrial downstreaming, and village development, with a focus on the production sector and local economic empowerment. The focus is on developing production sector cooperatives to increase their contribution to national cooperatives.
Meanwhile, the Minister of PPN/Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudi, said he will continue to collaborate in the development of production sector cooperatives. This includes supporting the Red and White Village/Sub-District Cooperative Programme.
“Cooperatives will truly become the pillar as mandated by the 1945 Constitution, the Minister of Cooperatives also mentioned earlier that there will be a new law, namely the National Cooperative System Law, which positions cooperatives as the pillar. Hopefully, with this law, we will get the right direction on how to build cooperatives,” said Rachmat.
