Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, believes that the appointment of Nanik S. Deyang as the new Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) reinforces the role of women in national strategic programmes aimed at meeting the nutritional needs of Indonesian children.

“The appointment of Mrs Nanik also reflects the President’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for Indonesian women to lead national strategic programmes,” Meuthea stated in a briefing confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to Meutya, this change in leadership at the BGN marks a new chapter for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, which is a flagship initiative of President Prabowo Subianto. She noted that Nanik’s appointment was the result of careful consideration.

Nanik S. Deyang’s leadership will be supported by the appointment of Agustina Arum Sari and Major General TNI Trenggono as Deputy Heads of the BGN. With the addition of female leadership within the agency, Meutya is confident that the institution can maximise its duties and responsibilities to further improve the MBG programme.

“Competence, integrity, dedication, and the ability to produce real benefits for the community remain the primary foundations for granting such mandates,” she said.

Meutya stated that the success of the MBG programme depends not only on good governance but also on an understanding of the real impact felt by Indonesian families across all regions. “Therefore, the MBG programme is expected to continue supporting the healthy, intelligent, and competitive growth of children,” Meutya expressed.

She added that the MBG programme is a national strategic initiative that directly impacts millions of Indonesian families by improving child nutrition, family health, and the quality of human resources. “President Prabowo Subianto is giving special attention to the acceleration and strengthening of this programme’s implementation so that its benefits can be felt more widely, quickly, and equitably,” she noted.

On this basis, Meutya believes that the BGN requires leadership that aligns with President Prabowo’s goals and vision for the MBG programme, including the appointment of Nanik S. Deyang as Head of the BGN. “This appointment is based on her experience, track record, and direct involvement in the implementation and coordination of the MBG programme since its inception,” Meutya explained.

Meutya stated that the government will continue to ensure the MBG programme runs more effectively and reaches the intended targets to provide the greatest possible benefit to Indonesian children. “With the spirit of acceleration and strengthening implementation, this programme is expected to become an important foundation in realising a healthy, strong Indonesian generation that is ready to face Indonesia Emas 2045,” Meutya concluded.
