Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs invites celebration of independence through Komdigi Merdeka Ride

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid invited participants of the Komdigi Merdeka Ride to celebrate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia through a cycling activity that brought together government officials, media figures, and national athletes.

Meutya said the event served as a space to strengthen togetherness through sport without turning it into a competition.

“Today we are very pleased by the arrival of professional bikers, young athletes from Ragunan, and editors-in-chief. Because today commemorates the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, we are all enthusiastic and joyful,” she said at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.

She said participants could adjust the distance and pace of their ride according to their own abilities because the event was not designed as a race.

“If anyone wants to join for the sake of togetherness and shared enjoyment, please do, there is no need to push yourself. There is no KPI assessment as an employee here,” she said.

The Komdigi Merdeka Ride was attended by officials from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs together with editors-in-chief from a number of media outlets, professional cyclists, national athletes, and young athletes from Ragunan.

One of the participants present was national athlete Santia, who has taken part in a number of international sporting events including the Olympics and the ASEAN Games.

The event was part of a series of commemorations for the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, carrying the spirit of sport and togetherness.

Through the event, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs brought together participants from government, media, and sports communities in a shared activity.
