Minister of Basic and Secondary Education: School Revitalisation to Add 60,000 Units This Year
Semarang (ANTARA) - The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu’ti, stated that the school revitalisation programme will add 60,000 units this year. “Insha Allah, in line with the President’s promise, there will be an addition of 60,000 educational units for this year,” he said at the Inauguration of the Revitalisation of 45 Educational Units Across Semarang Regency for the 2025 Fiscal Year at the Al Ittihad Islamic Boarding School Complex, Poncol, Bringin, Semarang Regency, on Monday. The school revitalisation programme by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) in 2025 exceeded its target, with a realisation of 16,167 educational units from an initial target of 10,440 units. He stated that the school revitalisation is aimed at improving the quality of education across all regions in Indonesia. “Interactive flat panel aids have also been provided to schools in Semarang Regency. Hopefully, with this assistance, teaching and learning activities can be better, and our education more quality,” he said. Meanwhile, Semarang Regent Ngesti Nugraha mentioned that at least 45 educational units in the region received the revitalisation programme from Kemendikdasmen. “The amount (school revitalisation budget) is around Rp13.6 billion in Semarang Regency for 2025. We have also just proposed again to him for 2026, so that we can receive it again,” he said. He explained that schools receiving the revitalisation programme have several strict requirements, especially that their condition is truly severely damaged. “This excellent programme is certainly very beneficial for our children in the teaching and learning process. The schools are comfortable, clean, beautiful, and neat,” he said. For this year, Ngesti said, his side will reapply for school revitalisation by mapping educational units that meet the criteria to receive the programme. “This year, we are reapplying to the ministry, in accordance with the criteria set by the ministry. We hope to get even more,” he said. On that occasion, the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education and related officials also inspected the implementation of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) at SMP Plus Al Ittihad, Poncol, Bringin, Semarang Regency.
