Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti has reminded teachers and schools to strengthen students’ digital literacy in educational institutions to support the implementation of PP Tunas.

According to him, all teachers in basic and secondary education have a very important role in supporting the implementation of this policy, while ensuring that the use of technology remains a supporter of education, and not the other way around.

“All teachers in basic and secondary education have a very important role in supporting the implementation of this policy. The public need not worry; we assure that the digital literacy programme in educational institutions will continue to run in parallel,” emphasised Mendikdasmen Mu’ti in Jakarta on Saturday afternoon.

In addition, the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education is also ready to intensify the application of the 3S principles, namely Screen Time, Screen Zoom, and Screen Break, accompanied by alternative physical activities for students, such as brain gymnastics, cheerful breaks, or the Great Indonesian Children’s Morning Exercise.

“We also encourage schools to provide more alternative physical activities for students,” said Mu’ti.

On that occasion, he also invited all levels of society to jointly accompany children in using technology wisely.

“In the end, technology is a tool, but character is the rudder. Our collective task is to ensure that Indonesian children grow into a generation that is digitally intelligent and strong in character. Education has a purpose,” said Mu’ti.

Previously, on Friday night (27/3), Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid emphasised that the Indonesian government will not compromise with digital platforms that do not comply with the mandate to protect children in the digital space in line with Government Regulation number 17 of 2025 on Child Protection Governance in the Administration of Electronic Systems (PP Tunas).

“The government instructs all digital platforms doing business in Indonesia to immediately align their products, features, and services in accordance with applicable regulations. There is no compromise on compliance, and every business entity operating in Indonesia is obliged to comply with the laws applicable in Indonesia,” stressed Meutya.
