Manado (ANTARA) - The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti, during a visit to SMP Katolik Stella Maris Tomohon in North Sulawesi, reminded students not to engage in bullying among peers. “We are all friends, we are all siblings, therefore avoid bullying, avoid words that hurt others, avoid words that demean others. Let us respect one another, let us honour one another,” Mendikdasmen Abdul Mu’ti urged in Tomohon on Wednesday. Mendikdasmen called on fellow students to build a safe social environment and social life, where they respect, help, and support one another. He also reminded students to adopt healthy living habits by eating nutritious food, especially with the government’s Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG) available in schools. “It’s already available here (MBG). Thank you. We must get used to eating healthy food, avoid food that damages health,” said Mendikdasmen Abdul Mu’ti. In addition to healthy and nutritious eating, Mendikdasmen hoped that students would cultivate a culture of healthy living by waking up early and exercising. Mendikdasmen also emphasised the importance of social health, where students have many friends, live harmoniously with peers, and create a clean and healthy environment. “All of you must be diligent in learning. All knowledge is useful, all knowledge is beneficial, do not be lazy. Everyone must dare to say no if someone invites you to do something that violates religion. Become great children who have abilities according to their respective fields,” said Mendikdasmen Abdul Mu’ti.
