Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Reminds of the 3M Factors to Improve Education Quality
Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti has reminded of the importance of the 3M factors for sustainable improvements in education quality. This was conveyed in his speech during the National Education Day (Hardiknas) commemoration in Jakarta on Saturday morning (2/5). “Various policies to improve education quality will not be implemented without the 3M: an advanced mindset, strong mentality, and straight mission,” said Abdul Mu’ti, quoted from Antara. He explained that without these three, all running policies would only stop as programmes and formalities, merely marked by quantitative achievements. On the other hand, in line with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution and the National Education System Law Number 20 of 2003, Mu’ti interprets education as a process of enlightening life, building the character and civilisation of the nation. Education, he continued, is a process of developing human potential to become individuals who are faithful and pious to Almighty God, of noble character, intelligent, skilled, independent, physically and spiritually healthy, honest, responsible, democratic, and possessing other superior personalities. “In accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita, education is a collective effort to build superior, strong, and resilient Indonesian human resources to make Indonesia an advanced, prosperous, and dignified country,” said Abdul Mu’ti. Therefore, he expressed appreciation and thanks to partner institutions both domestically and abroad that have cooperated well with the Ministry of Education. In 18 months, he said the Ministry of Education has laid the foundation for quality education for all through various regulations and an ecosystem that integrates four education centres, namely schools, families, society, and media.
