Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti has inaugurated the implementation of education unit revitalisation in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) province for the 2026 fiscal year as a step to strengthen educational infrastructure in the region.

The inauguration event also marks the resumption of revitalisation and rehabilitation of various educational units from early childhood education (PAUD) to senior high school (SMA) levels this year.

“First, this marks the 2026 revitalisation, which Alhamdulillah we have already begun, and in NTT province, many will be built because it is a priority area, namely the 3T regions,” said Mendikdasmen Mu’ti at TK Kristen Kota Kupang on Monday.

He added that his ministry would continue to gradually pursue revitalisation efforts, including the construction of new school units in the area.

Furthermore, he stated that the inauguration of the 2026 fiscal year revitalisation for NTT province was carried out symbolically at the early childhood education level.

This step is also part of efforts to support President Prabowo Subianto’s directive on 13 years of compulsory education.

For TK Kristen Kota Kupang, his ministry is providing a budget of Rp863,440,000 to rebuild the school with two classrooms, one administrative room, toilets, a playground, and educational aids (APE) on a 1,250 m² plot of land prepared by the Evangelical Christian Church in Timor (GMIT).

On the same occasion, the Principal of TK Kristen Kota Kupang, Nortje Padaleti, said that previously they had been conducting two learning groups in one classroom.

She expressed appreciation for the collaboration of all parties, including members of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the NTT II electoral district, Anita Jacoba Gah, and the Ministry of Education, so that the students of TK Kristen Kota Kupang can soon learn in a safe, comfortable, and proper environment within four months.

“We have been greatly assisted by the Ministry of Education with this new building. We are very grateful and thankful because the children can soon learn and play freely in the new rooms,” she said.

For information, the total number of educational units that will receive the education unit revitalisation programme in NTT province for the 2026 fiscal year is 809 schools across various education levels, with a total budget of Rp630.8 billion.
