Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti claims to have obtained the names of supervisors suspected of committing violations during the implementation of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) at the junior high school (SMP) level from 6 to 16 April 2026. He stated that several violations found included live streaming during the exam and smoking while on duty as supervisors. “So we already have national data on violations, both by proctors and supervisors and schools. Now everything has been recorded, even the names are available,” Mu’ti said when met during his visit to State Junior High School 16 Jakarta on Monday, 20 April 2026. Mu’ti has not yet revealed the number of TKA violations collected by the Ministry of Education. However, he assured that every violation will be followed up. He stated that the sanctions to be given depend on the level of the violation. “If it is indeed serious, we will not give them another chance to be supervisors next year. But if it is only minor and can still be improved, we will give them a chance,” he said. This year marks the first time the TKA for primary school (SD) and junior high school (SMP) levels has been held. The TKA for the SMP level was held from 6 to 16 April, while the TKA for the SD level begins today, Monday, 20 April 2026. Mu’ti advised students and parents not to worry about the TKA because the test is not a determinant of graduation. In its implementation, the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education emphasises that exam participants and schools prioritise the principles of honesty and joy. Mu’ti emphasised that strict sanctions will be imposed if cheating is found, both by students and schools. The rules for implementing the TKA are regulated in Ministerial Decision No. 95 of 2025 on Guidelines for TKA Implementation. In this Ministerial Decision, the government categorises violations into three levels: minor, moderate, and severe. The government details the types of violations based on each role involved, such as question makers, supervisors, operators, technicians, educational units, to exam participants. Recording or leaking questions falls under severe violations. For TKA participants, if proven to have committed a severe violation, they will be expelled from the room and declared to receive a score of 0 for the related subject after investigation by the central organiser. Meanwhile, the harshest sanction for question writers, supervisors, and proctors is dismissal from their positions and roles as writers or reviewers of questions, supervisors, proctors, and/or test technicians. In addition, the Ministry will also impose sanctions on educational units if proven to have allowed violations or cheating to occur in that school. Such sanctions include cancellation of TKA implementation up to prohibition from being a TKA organiser for three consecutive implementations.
