Minister of Basic and Secondary Education: Cheating Supervisors in Academic Ability Test to Face Blacklisting

Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti has reminded supervisors and proctors of the academic ability test (TKA) to carry out their duties professionally. Those proven to have committed violations will face strict sanctions, namely being removed or no longer allowed to serve as exam supervisors.

Mu’ti stated that such sanctions have been applied in previous examinations. Supervisors who do not perform their duties properly, such as making videos during the exam or leaving supervision, will no longer be involved in the TKA implementation.

Last year, Mu’ti said there were exam supervisors who did not monitor participants but instead left the room to smoke during the exam. “We sanctioned the supervisor, and they are no longer allowed to be a supervisor. We blacklist them,” Mu’ti said when met at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education office on Wednesday night, 1 April 2026.

In addition to supervisors, he emphasised that students proven to have cheated will be immediately disqualified with their scores cancelled. Meanwhile, for schools, the ministry has not yet established specific sanctions and so far only issues warnings. “If it’s the students, their scores are zeroed, we zero them out, same as disqualification,” he said.

The implementation of TKA for primary school (SD) and junior secondary school (SMP) levels is just days away. The SMP TKA will take place from 6-16 April 2026, while the SD TKA will be held from 20-30 April 2026.

Each TKA implementation for SD and SMP will be conducted in four waves of examinations. Each wave will consist of four exam sessions, resulting in a total of 16 sessions.

Non-formal education units will conduct one wave of examinations consisting of four sessions. Supervision will be carried out by cross-supervisors from other education units and monitored by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education via Zoom conference.
