Surabaya (ANTARA) - Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti has appreciated the support from the East Java Provincial Government in implementing national education programmes, particularly the revitalisation and digitalisation that have been running optimally across all levels of education.

“The revitalisation and digitalisation programmes in East Java are already running optimally thanks to the support from the local government,” he stated after attending the Deliberation on Development Planning (Musrenbang) for the Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) 2027 in Surabaya on Tuesday.

He emphasised that this achievement demonstrates strong synergy between the central and local governments in driving education transformation.

The revitalisation and digitalisation programmes in East Java have even reached 100 percent and are beginning to be utilised in all educational units from primary to secondary levels.

“For 2026, we will expand the reach of the revitalisation programme to 11,400 educational units in the initial phase, and gradually increase it to 60,000 educational units nationwide,” he said.

“We are also strengthening the digitalisation programme by adding digital learning devices from one to three units per school,” he added.

In addition to infrastructure, the government is also focusing on improving the quality of educators. Through a scholarship programme, 150,000 teachers who do not yet have Diploma 4 (D4) or Bachelor’s (S1) qualifications will receive assistance of Rp3 million per semester.

“We are preparing scholarships for 150,000 teachers who do not yet have D4 or S1 qualifications with assistance of Rp3 million per semester,” he stated.

Furthermore, Abdul Mu’ti requested support from local governments in implementing the New Student Admission System (SPMB) 2026, which requires regulations at the local level, including English language training for primary school teachers.

“We hope that the support from local governments continues to be strengthened so that priority education programmes can run optimally,” he said.
