The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) will prepare a schedule for a follow-up academic ability test (TKA) at the primary education level for students affected by disasters, such as in parts of North Maluku. Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu’ti, revealed that some areas in North Maluku faced obstacles in conducting the TKA for primary education, scheduled from 20 to 30 April 2026. “Several regions in North Maluku have requested a follow-up (TKA) session later, as aftershocks are still occurring, making children feel unsafe,” said Abdul Mu’ti to reporters in Jakarta on Monday, 20 April 2026. Abdul Mu’ti underlined that this scheduling is a follow-up TKA, not a retake. He stated that Kemendikdasmen has conducted data collection on schools wishing to hold the TKA as a follow-up. Thus, the students only need to take the follow-up TKA at the designated time. “For example, if there are earthquake aftershocks, we schedule it as a follow-up exam, not a retake, but a follow-up,” he said. It is known that the 2026 TKA for primary education is participated in by more than 4.4 million students from 175,000 educational units. The implementation of the TKA for primary education takes place from 20 to 30 April 2026, with follow-up exam sessions from 11 to 17 May 2026. The announcement of the TKA results for primary education will be carried out on 18-23 May 2026.
