Minister of Basic and Secondary Education: 71,744 Schools to Be Revitalised This Year
Manado (ANTARA) - The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu’ti, stated that this year, 71,744 educational units across Indonesia will undergo revitalisation. “In 2026, the revitalisation achievement according to the initial budget is 11,744 educational units, with an addition of 60,000 educational units, so in 2026, 71,744 educational units will be revitalised,” said Minister Abdul Mu’ti at the Inauguration of Educational Unit Revitalisation for North Sulawesi Province in Manado on Tuesday. The Minister added that the national educational unit revitalisation programme in 2025 reached 154.9 per cent, or 16,167 units, from the initial target of 10,440 units. Meanwhile, in Manado City, revitalisation covers 18 schools, or 7.3 per cent of the total revitalisation in North Sulawesi Province. In Minahasa Regency, revitalisation covers 19 schools, or 7.7 per cent of the total revitalisation in North Sulawesi Province. The Minister further noted that, in addition to the revitalisation programme, which is a presidential initiative, the Ministry of Education is also distributing Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs). Nationally, the Minister said, the 2025 IFP distribution achievement is 288,865 units, and based on President Prabowo’s instructions, this year there will be an addition of three IFPs per school, so in 2026, approximately 886,595 IFPs will be distributed. In North Sulawesi Province, the 2025 IFP target is 3,760 units, broken down as follows: Early Childhood Education 373 IFPs, Primary Schools 2,203 IFPs, Junior Secondary Schools 733 IFPs, Senior Secondary Schools 226 IFPs, Vocational Secondary Schools 144 IFPs, Community Learning Centres 20, Learning Activity Studios 23, and Special Needs Schools 38 IFPs. In Manado City, the Minister said, the total 2025 IFP target is 506 units, or 13.5 per cent of the total IFP distribution in North Sulawesi Province. Meanwhile, the IFP target in Minahasa Regency is 512 units, or 13.6 per cent of the total IFP distribution in North Sulawesi Province. As per President Prabowo Subianto’s instructions at the peak event of National Education Day 2024, the Minister said, “There must be no school with a collapsing roof, and no school without toilets for children.” The Inauguration of Educational Unit Revitalisation for North Sulawesi Province in Manado City was attended by the Governor of North Sulawesi Yulius Selvanus, regents and mayors, regional secretaries, Heads of Education Offices, teachers, and other invitees.
